What Is This Free EURUSD Expert Advisor?

ATS Origin Free EA enters when the Tenkan-sen crosses the Kijun-sen with price on the matching side of the Ichimoku cloud, then handles adverse moves with a fixed-lot recovery grid and closes every layer together at a basket profit target.

It suits a trader who wants to study and test a rule-based system before paying for one, and who can accept floating drawdown while a grid is open. Is it right for everyone? Probably not: scalpers, anyone whose broker uses netting mode and those who want a stop loss on each position should look at other forex robots.

ATS Origin costs nothing, runs from a single .ex5 build and checks its license through a WebRequest to algotradingspace.com. It also shows how the paid ATS Origin Portfolio EAs are designed, and you can compare it with other EURUSD robots on our free EA page.

Backtest and Live Trading Results

The results for this strategy come from two sources: a five-year backtest on EURUSD H1 using 100% real ticks, shown in the report below, and live trades recorded through Space Tracker. Backtests are simulations with known limits, and past performance does not indicate future results.

  • Net Profit

The report lists net profit next to the starting deposit and total return, so the result can be read in proportion to the account size used in the test.

Maximum drawdown shows the deepest fall from an equity peak during the test, open grid layers included. It is perhaps the most useful figure for sizing an account, and live drawdown can exceed it.

The report counts individual trades. Because several layers can close together as one basket, the number of separate trading decisions is lower than that total.

How the ATS Origin Strategy Works

  • Ichimoku Trend Filter

A buy needs the Tenkan-sen (11) to cross above the Kijun-sen (24) while price sits over the cloud, so entries tend to follow the main direction on H1.

  • Recovery Grid

After a 120-pip move against the opening position, the EA adds a layer, then one more at each further 40-pip step.

After a 120-pip move against the opening position, the EA adds a layer, then one more at each further 40-pip step. Averaging the entry replaces a stop-loss exit, which can deepen drawdown in a sustained trend.

  • Fixed Trade Volume

Each layer is sized 0.02 lots unless you change the inputs, with no doubling as in martingale designs.

Each layer is sized 0.02 lots unless you change the inputs, with no doubling as in martingale designs. Exposure still grows with every new layer, so margin needs rise as the grid expands.

  • Basket Exit

All open orders close together once their combined floating gain reaches the target, $20 at 0.02 lots in the default set, regardless of how any single layer performs.

  • H1 Chart Focus

Hourly candles give the Ichimoku indicators room to separate real trends from brief swings, and they leave enough space between grid layers for intraday volatility.

  • Cloud Confirmation Filter

A candle must close beyond the cloud before an entry, which aims to cut down on signals during flat, quiet sessions.

  • MT5 Only

ATS Origin ships as a native .ex5 build for MetaTrader 5, the platform used for its real-tick backtest.

  • Adjustable Inputs

GridEnable and Use_Stop_Loss switch between a single-position mode with a stop and the full recovery setup.

Why Traders Test the ATS Origin Portfolio

The free EURUSD strategy follows the same development and testing process as the paid ATS Origin EAs, so it offers an inexpensive first look at the portfolio's approach before committing to more.

  1. Published Entry Rules

The strategy was built in EA Studio, and its logic is fully documented: the Tenkan/Kijun cross plus the cloud filter.

  2. Grid Recovery, With Trade-Offs

Adding layers to a losing position lets the basket close at a target instead of taking a fixed loss.

Adding layers to a losing position lets the basket close at a target instead of taking a fixed loss. The catch is that losses on open layers can grow if EURUSD trends hard against them.

  3. Robustness Checks

Each portfolio strategy goes through in-house testing across several market conditions before release.

  5. Who Should Skip This EA

How to Set Up ATS Origin on MetaTrader 5

ATS Origin Free EA is a free EURUSD expert advisor for MetaTrader 5 that trades hourly candles using Ichimoku entries and equal-sized recovery layers. Before installing it, note that its default mode uses no fixed stop loss, so floating losses can build during strong trends. Forex trading carries a high level of risk, losses can exceed deposits, and past performance does not indicate future results. Algo Trading Space develops this EA, and the button above leads to our own shop.

FAQs

Common questions on setup, strategy and technical requirements for the ATS Origin EURUSD robot.

Which symbol and timeframe does the free EURUSD expert advisor use?

ATS Origin Free EA is built for the EURUSD pair and the hourly (H1) timeframe in MetaTrader 5. Its Ichimoku crossover entries and grid spacing were set around that pair's usual volatility, so running it on another symbol or timeframe changes its behavior and would need fresh backtesting before any live use.

Is ATS Origin a martingale or a grid EA?

It uses a grid, not a martingale. Each recovery layer uses the same size rather than doubling after losses. Total exposure still increases as layers are added, so risk grows during long adverse moves on EURUSD, only more gradually than with martingale scaling. Before going live, check how many layers your balance could support.

What is the minimum deposit for ATS Origin Free EA?

There is no fixed minimum, but our testing points to about $5,000 as a comfortable baseline for the standard settings on MetaTrader 5. Smaller balances may work with reduced lot settings. Backtest with the deposit you plan to use first, to learn how deep drawdown could go.

Do I need a VPS to run this expert advisor?

A VPS is strongly recommended. The grid can hold several open layers at once, and the MT5 terminal has to stay online to add them or close the basket at its target. If your computer sleeps or disconnects, open trades run unmanaged, which can lead to unexpected outcomes.

Can I use ATS Origin for prop firm challenges?

Possibly, but check the firm's rules first. Some prop firms restrict grid trading, averaging down or daily drawdown, and a recovery grid may carry floating losses for days. Review the terms, run ATS Origin in a demo or trial environment and confirm it stays inside the limits before buying a challenge.

How does the ATS Origin grid recovery work?

It averages into a losing EURUSD position with extra equal-sized layers, then exits the whole basket once combined floating profit hits the target. With no hard stop in this mode, losing trades remain open while the grid waits for a recovery that may never come, so drawdown can deepen during a strong trend.

Can I change the EA settings?

Yes. Inputs such as GridDistancePips, GridTakeProfitValue, GridEnable and Use_Stop_Loss can be edited in MetaTrader 5. Start from the supplied .set file, since its defaults reflect the original test settings. After any edit, run a new backtest so you understand how the adjusted grid behaves before trading it with real money.

Is there an MT4 version of this free EA?

No MetaTrader 4 version is listed. ATS Origin Free EA is supplied as an .ex5 file for MetaTrader 5 only. If you trade on MT4, open an MT5 demo account with your broker to test this robot, or browse our free expert advisors ranking for options that support the older platform.

Does ATS Origin Free EA work on a netting account?

No. The recovery grid opens several EURUSD positions at the same time, which requires hedging to be enabled in MetaTrader 5. In netting mode, new orders merge into one position, so the grid logic cannot work as designed. Ask your broker which mode applies before installing the robot.

Can I test the EA on a demo account first?

Yes, and it is the sensible first step. Attach ATS Origin Free EA to a EURUSD H1 chart in your practice terminal, load the matching preset and let it run long enough to see at least one full grid cycle. Demo fills can differ from live execution, so expect some variation later.

What is the best free EURUSD expert advisor?

No single free EURUSD expert advisor suits every trader. Compare how clearly each robot documents its entry logic, how it handles losing trades, backtest quality and whether results are tracked on a live account. ATS Origin shares all four, which makes it easier to judge, although it still carries the risks of any grid system.
