Portfolio Builder Combine EAs and Accounts Into One Portfolio

Portfolio Builder is the portfolio planner we built at Algo Trading Space for traders who run several EAs across their own and prop-firm accounts. Bring in your Account Tracker accounts and your MT5 backtests, drag EAs onto accounts, and see each account's return a month, its drawdown estimate and the capital it needs, all measured against the drawdown you can live with. Portfolio Builder is in early access now.

What Is Portfolio Builder?

Portfolio Builder is a browser app that answers one question before your EAs go live: which strategy goes on which account, and how much can that account lose? You set a pain limit, the most drawdown you'll accept on an account, and every account card shows its expected return a month, a drawdown estimate with a range and the minimum equity it needs, judged against that limit.

It combines EAs from three places into one portfolio: the accounts you follow in Account Tracker, the MT5 Strategy Tester reports you upload, and, with VIP Club, the live accounts our team runs. Algo Trading Space built this tool, and we use it to plan our own accounts.

Portfolio Builder plans; it places no orders and gives no signals. Every figure comes from past trades or backtests, which do not promise future results, and nothing in it is investment advice. Trading involves risk, including the loss of your capital.

What You Can Do With Portfolio Builder

Every screen below is from Portfolio Builder, filled with demo accounts and EAs.

  • Drag EAs Onto Accounts

The board lists your EAs, your backtests and, with VIP Club, our team's EAs on the left, and your accounts on the right.

  • A Pain Limit on Every Account

Set the drawdown you can live with as a share of equity, for the whole portfolio or per account.

Set the drawdown you can live with as a share of equity, for the whole portfolio or per account. Each card then says whether it's within, close to or over your limit, how much it could lose in dollars and how to fix it: add capital or cut the risk by a given share.

  • Combined Equity and Drawdown

The Overview draws one equity curve for all your EAs together, with the drawdown chart under it and your pain limit as a line.

  • Correlation: How the EAs Move Together

A heatmap shows which EAs win and lose on the same days and which move independently, next to the monthly returns grid.

  • Position Sizer (Pro)

Pick an account and a target share of your pain limit, and the sizer suggests lots or a risk multiplier for each EA.

The stress test reshuffles your portfolio's own history into 2,000 possible next 3, 6 or 12 months. It shows the chance of reaching your pain limit, the chance of ending below the start, the median and a bad-case end. It's resampled history, not a forecast.

  • Replay (Pro)

Play the combined history day by day with a scrubber and watch equity and drawdown build up.

Portfolio Builder vs a Spreadsheet of EA Results

Most of us started by pasting each EA's backtest figures into a spreadsheet and adding up the drawdowns. That works for two EAs. Here is how the same questions look in Portfolio Builder.

  • How Much Can This Account Lose?

In a spreadsheet you add up each EA's maximum drawdown, or guess.

In a spreadsheet you add up each EA's maximum drawdown, or guess. Portfolio Builder measures the EAs together, day by day, and gives a drawdown estimate with a range and the dollars the account could lose, next to your pain limit.

  • Which EA Causes the Drawdown?

A total doesn't say who caused it.

A total doesn't say who caused it. The Statistics page splits the drawdown estimate and the return by account, EA, symbol and platform, so you see which part to cut first.

  • Is the Return Worth the Risk?

Return alone hides how bumpy the ride was.

Return alone hides how bumpy the ride was. Key figures put return beside the deepest and longest drawdown, Sharpe, Sortino, Calmar, profitable days and the worst month, read from the same combined history.

  • Which Plan Is Better?

Instead of copying a sheet for every idea, save each plan as its own portfolio and compare up to four side by side: return, drawdown estimate, what could be lost, equity counted and accounts over their limit.

  • What If the Next Year Is Worse?

    A spreadsheet shows one past.

A spreadsheet shows one past. The stress test draws 2,000 paths from your portfolio's own days and shows how deep the drawdown went in each, so one lucky backtest doesn't set your expectations.

How to Plan a Portfolio in Four Steps

Who Portfolio Builder Is For

We built Portfolio Builder to decide which of our own EAs go on which account. It fits traders with the same question and is the wrong tool for a few others.

  1. You run several EAs on one account

See the drawdown they cause together, not each EA's drawdown on its own.

Portfolio Builder FAQ

Answers on data, pricing and access before you plan your first portfolio.

What is Portfolio Builder?

Portfolio Builder is a browser app from Algo Trading Space that combines EAs and accounts into one portfolio. You drag EAs onto accounts and see each account's return a month, drawdown estimate and minimum capital against your pain limit, with combined equity, correlation, a position sizer, a stress test and a replay.

Which data can I use in Portfolio Builder?

Your own data in every plan: MT4 and MT5 accounts you follow in Account Tracker, and MT5 Strategy Tester reports (.htm) you upload, ideally with the tester's graph CSV so the drawdown includes open trades. With VIP Club, the live accounts our team runs join as a third source.

What is a pain limit?

It's the most drawdown you'll accept on an account, as a share of its equity, for example 30%. Portfolio Builder judges every account against it: within, close to or over the limit, how much it could lose and what would bring it back under.

How is the drawdown estimate calculated?

From the EAs' closed trades by day, measured together over the period they share, at their current sizing. The estimate comes with a range, and every figure is labelled measured, derived, backtest or closed trades only. The Rules and provenance page in the app explains each method.

Does Portfolio Builder place trades?

No. It only plans and shows figures. Changing lots or EAs on a live account is something you do yourself in MetaTrader, or with your own tools, after you've checked the plan.

Do I need Account Tracker?

No. You can plan with uploaded MT5 backtests alone. With Account Tracker, including its free plan, your tracked accounts come in on their own and stay in sync, so your Current State portfolio always shows what you run today.

What does the stress test show?

It reshuffles your portfolio's own trading days, in blocks so streaks stay together, into 2,000 possible next 3, 6 or 12 months. It shows the chance of reaching your pain limit and of ending below the start. It's resampled history, not a forecast: a day worse than any in your history can't appear.

What do VIP Club members get?

Portfolio Builder Pro is included in VIP Club. VIP members can also add the live accounts our team runs, such as Happy Index, Core or Origin, as a data source, and the same accounts are available to AI tools over MCP.

How much does Portfolio Builder cost?

Free is €0, with 2 data sources (your backtests and your Account Tracker accounts), correlation, combined equity and 3 saved portfolios. Pro is €29 a month or €290 a year and adds unlimited saved portfolios, the position sizer, the stress test and replay. Pro is included in VIP Club.

How do I get access?

Join the early-access list on this page. We'll email you when your access opens, and you'll sign in with your Algo Trading Space account; there's no new password to create.

Is Portfolio Builder investment advice?

No. It shows how your chosen EAs behaved in the past and how they might combine. Past results and backtests don't guarantee future returns, and trading involves risk, including the loss of your capital.

Join the Portfolio Builder Early-Access List

Leave your email and we'll let you know when your access opens. Then bring in your accounts and backtests and see what your EAs could lose together before they trade together. Not using Account Tracker yet? Start with the free Account Tracker.

Backtest, demo, then a small live account.

That is the order we test our own robots in, and the Account Tracker records every trade along the way. Portfolio Builder is one step of it; the other tools cover the rest.
